Police Seize 37 Two-Wheelers in Cordon Operations

Hyderabad: Charminar zone police conducted cordon searches in different localities and seized 37 two-wheelers and detained rowdy-sheeters found to be moving in suspicious circumstances, police said. Charminar DCP Kiran Khare told Deccan Chronicle that more such action was in the offing.
“Special Branch,detective teams are keeping a watch on anti-social elements and rowdy sheeters round the clock. Habitual offenders violating the rules will be detained under the PD Act,” Khare said.

Rein Bazaar station house officer Ch Nethaji said the police were keeping a watch on the 49 rowdy-sheeters in the police station limits. He said the two-wheelers were seized on Thursday for not having number plates or with improper/tampered number plates. The police also seized three knives, five sachets of ganja, gas cylinders stored illegally, and a hookah.
Student, Short of Attendance , Survives Suicide
An 18-year-old first-year BTech student allegedly attempted to die suicide at the administrative block at an engineering college on the city outskirts on Thursday afternoon. He survived the attempt and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police said the student was staying at a private hostel outside the campus. The college management recently informed his family that he was irregular in attending classes. On Wednesday, following the information, his uncle from Pragatinagar took him home.
On Thursday, his mother and aunt came to the city from Warangal to meet the college management and were given an appointment at 12.30 pm. His father, an RTC driver, could not attend due to work commitments. While his mother, uncle and aunt were inside the principal’s room discussing the issue, the student attempted to die by suicide.
IT Pocharam police officials said that the parents have not yet filed a complaint. “Once a petition is lodged, we will record statements and proceed with registering a case,” the officer said.
Hoax Bomb Threats at RGIA Resume
Hoax bomb threats at the Shamshabad airport appeared to have resumed, after officials received a mail claiming that that a bomb had been placed on a Gulf Air flight bound to the city. Officials determined it was safe to allow the flight to complete its journey.
Upon landing at 4.55 am, the passengers were deboarded and the aircraft was taken to an isolated safe place put through security checks. Nothing suspicious was found, and officials declared an all-clear.
The technical team of RGIA police are making efforts to track and identify the person who sent the bomb threat mail.
According to the police, the airport had received 31 hoax calls, mails and letters between October and December, including seven between December 2 and 7. Police said they had registered 29 cases and had identified seven persons. Sources said that the threats that were sent by VPN and encrypted emails, making it difficult for the officials to track the senders.
“We have proposed to form a special investigation team (SIT) comprising anti-sabotage and cyber experts to deal with these threats,” a police officer disclosed.

TGIIC to Auction Seven Prime Land Parcels Near Osman Nagar in March
Hyderabad: The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) has proposed to auction seven prime land parcels near Osmannagar in Ramachandrapuram mandal of Sangareddy district. The e-auctions are scheduled for March 10, 13 and 16.
According to a notification, the land parcels are located in Survey No. 30 of Osmannagar and are being offered on an ‘as is where is’ basis. All seven parcels fall under the multi-use sone, allowing flexible development options.
The sizes of the plots range from four acres to over 10 acres, with an upset price of Rs.39 crore per acre. The minimum bid increment is Rs.0.25 crore per acre, and the pre-bid EMD was Rs.5 crore, the notification said.

Action on Unauthorized Redeployment of DRP PG Students
Hyderabad: The Director of Medical Education (DME), Academics, has taken serious note of the unauthorised redeployment of postgraduate students in the District Residency Programme (DRP) and issued urgent instructions to rectify the postings.
According to a source, the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad had issued orders for redeployment of PG doctors on the request of medical superintendents. “They have no right to replace PGs as per their needs” said a source.
It was brought to the notice of the DME that PG students posted to the District Hospital (DH) at King Koti and the area hospitals at Malakpet and Nampally for the February-April 2026 session were shifted to the Golconda area hospital without prior approval of the competent authority.
Acting on a representation submitted by PG students on Thursday, the DME directed the principal of Osmania Medical College (OMC) to immediately re-post Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology students to the government medical colleges at Quthbullapur and Maheshwaram for the current and future postings.
The remaining students who were shifted to Golconda have been permitted to continue there for the present spell.
Postgraduate trainees come under the administrative control of the DME, and the DRP postings are issued through its office. The February 1 batch had joined their respective hospitals as per official orders. Without any communication to the DME, PG students on the DRP were forcibly relieved based on TVVP orders, said a student.s.
