Hyderabad:The Cyberabad Special Operation Team (SOT), along with the Madhapur police, raided a pub on Road No.46 in Jubilee Hills as part of a routine checkup late on Sunday night. The raid resulted in a consumer tested positive for drugs.
According to Madhapur inspector D. Krishna Mohan, around 20 persons were identified as potential drug consumers in the pub. Of them, 14 were placed under a drug test using advanced drug detection tests out of which one tested positive for various drugs, including marijuana and cocaine.
The individual resides in Thailand and had come to the city during the New Year’s Eve, the inspector said. A case has been registered against the consumer and he has been served a notice by the Madhapur police.
“He will have to appear at a de-addiction centre within a span of two months to get rid of the addiction,” the inspector added.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, law enforcement authorities have instructed pubs and bars across the state to put up a display saying the place is a drug-free space. They have also advised the general public to call 1908 on receiving any information about drug consumption or trafficking in the city.
