Police Denies Permission To Anti-Waqf March In Telangana
Convener says new date will announced soon

Hyderabad:The Telangana March against the Waqf Act, scheduled for Saturday at Dharna Chowk, was postponed after the police refused permission, citing incomplete application and Saturday being a working day when the city roads have peak traffic. The applicant, according to police, had failed to mention the number of participants and the route, making bandobast difficult.
Joint action committee convener Mohammed Mushtaq Malik said the event was postponed, and would be conducted on another date.
The event was to be held at Dharna Chowk, which has a limited crowd holding capacity. “lf the number of participants swells into a large number, it could turn into a mob,” according to a report submitted by the additional commissioner of police (law and order),
“Some miscreants and anti-social elements may take undue advantage of the situation and create problems and disturbance, resulting in a serious threat to law and order and may lead to violence and damage to private and public property,” the report explained.
Additionally, the report said that in the absence of a clearly specified number of participants, it would be extremely difficult for the police to plan and implement adequate bandobast.
