10 city cops face action for alleged corruption in 2025

Hyderabad:Hyderabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has attached Kulsumpura assistant commissioner of police Mohd Munawar to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) following serious allegations of corruption, which include land settlements and manipulation of cases.

According to sources, an inquiry has been ordered and action will be taken based on the report.

It has been alleged that the ACP formed special teams to collect money from various police stations and acted harshly against police personnel who did not obey his instructions. The commissioner expressed strong dissatisfaction over his conduct.

The police have been taking a tough stand against corruption and till date in 2025, 10 police personnel, including five station house officers, were suspended for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices.

The charges include collecting money from fraudsters, selling seized property, misplacing service pistol, delaying in lodging FIR, theft, negligence towards duties, corruption charges and misconduct of duties among others.

The most sensational suspension relates to two sub-inspectors. One was charged with facilitating the escape of V. Satish and his wife involved in Rs 3,000-crore financial fraud allegedly in return for Rs 2 crore. The other case related to B. Bhanu Prakash Reddy, a betting addict, who pledged Rs 5 lakh worth gold recovered from a thief and reportedly sold his 9 mm service pistol.

Dec. 11: Shravan Kumar, ex-serviceman posted as a constable with the Mehdipatnam police, suspended for stealing Rs 1.75 lakh worth mobile and hiding it in his locker.

Dec. 10: Kulsumpura ACP Md Munnawar was asked to report to the commissioner for his alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

Dec. 8: Sunil Korani, SHO Kulsumpura, suspended for favouring an accused by changing the names in an FIR registered under the Arms Act.

Nov. 29: Constable Sriramilla Shravan Kumar from Filmnagar suspended after he stole an imitation Rolex watch during an official house search.

Nov. 27: Bhanu Prakash Reddy was suspended for allegedly pledging his 9 mm service pistol, and pledging `5 lakh worth gold recovered in a theft.

Nov. 2: B. Abhilash, SHO Tappachabutra, suspended for delay in filing FIR.

Oct. 30: Central zone task force sub-inspector D. Srikanth Goud suspended for facilitating the escape of a couple wanted in `3,000-crore financial fraud by taking `2-crore protection money.

June 10: Constable D. Vinod suspended for an accidental misfire of a rifle while cleaning it at the Police Officers' Mess in Banjara Hills.

April 11: M. Raju, SHO Chaderghat, suspended for negligence towards duties by not detecting a stolen bike of a complaint.

April 1: Palle Padma, SHO Lalaguda, suspended for not conducting a proper investigation and misleading senior officials in a road accident case.

Jan. 24: Balu Chowhan, SHO Shahiyanathgunj, arrested by ACB allegedly for taking a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh for the removal of his name from the accused list.
