Police Bust Fake RIMS Job Racket In Adilabad

Adilabad police arrest Durgam Shekhar, chairman of a labour cooperative, for allegedly cheating unemployed youth with fake job promises at RIMS.

ADILABAD: Adilabad Two Town police registered cases against three persons and arrested the main accused, Durgam Shekhar, 50, chairman of the Durgam Scheduled Caste Labour Contract Cooperative Society, along with his associate Kavati Mohan, for allegedly cheating unemployed youth by promising jobs at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in exchange for money. Police said Shekhar’s personal assistant, Mahender, is absconding.

The cases were registered following a complaint lodged by Mesram Rahul of Ankoli village.
Addressing the media, Adilabad Two Town Inspector K. Nagaraju said the accused cheated at least six unemployed youth by luring them with false job promises and collecting money. He said Shekhar took ₹40,000 from Rahul and made him work at RIMS from November 2024, promising a monthly salary of ₹15,000. However, the accused allegedly neither paid the salary for seven months nor returned the money taken from the victim.
Inspector Nagaraju urged other unemployed youth who may have been cheated by Durgam Shekhar to come forward without fear and assured them of justice. He also cautioned job seekers to remain vigilant against fraudsters promising employment in exchange for money.
