Police Bans Drone Use at Functions in State

Telangana police clamp down on drone use at events amid security concerns

Hyderabad: Keeping in mind a possible threat from sleeper cells, the Telangana police have banned the usage of drones at function halls and other places with immediate effect.

Drones are typically used at marriages or other functions to shoot videos. However, the police suspect that miscreants may use them to create law and order issues and asked district SPs to prevent the flying of drones.

The police officials will issue instructions to function hall owners or operators, event organisers, drone service personnels not to fly drones equipped with cameras to shoot marriages and other functions without the police permission.

"Superintendents of police (SPs) in districts and commissioners of police (CPs) in cities are authorised officers to issue orders on drones. In a recently held meeting, we have considered stopping flying drones at function halls and the citizens must be aware about flying drones in their locality,” a senior police official said.

“If any citizen is noticed flying drones, the official said they can inform the police on 100. Based on information, police take action against the violators," the police officer said.
