PM MITRA Park In Warangal May Generate 3 Lakh Jobs, Lok Sabha Informed

The PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Warangal has the potential to generate employment for up to three lakh people when fully developed, the centre has said.

Union minister of state for textiles Pabitra Margherita provided the details in a written reply to a question raised in the Lok Sabha by Warangal MP Dr Kadiyam Kavya on Tuesday.

The Centre said the park could provide direct employment to one lakh people and indirect employment to another two lakh persons. Investment commitments already received are expected to generate more than 24,400 direct jobs.

Significantly, the Centre has approved seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) parks across the country under a scheme being implemented from 2021–22 to 2027–28, with an allocation of ₹4,445 crore. Warangal is among the seven locations and has been selected under the brownfield category.

The Centre said ₹300 crore have already been spent on trunk infrastructure at the Warangal PM MITRA Park. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the park on May 10, 2026, and commercial production has commenced at some of the units, the union minister said.

Around 548 acres have already been allotted to investors in the park. The primary objective of the PM MITRA Parks is to create integrated and modern industrial infrastructure for the textile and apparel sector at a single location, the Centre said. Employment opportunities are expected to extend beyond textile manufacturing to transport, supply chains, ancillary industries, logistics and services.

Women are expected to benefit from employment opportunities at the park. The Centre said women constituted a substantial majority of the workforce in apparel units already operational at the park.

The government is implementing skill development programmes and policies aimed at giving preference to local residents, with a focus on youth, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, women and other backward sections, the Centre said.

With land being allotted to investors and commercial production underway, the park is expected to attract more units and investments.
