Piyush Goyal Praises CM Revanth for Telangana Rising 2047 Vision Goals
Union minister urges export promotion, GI-product branding and investments in pharmaceuticals, AI, aerospace and defence.

Hyderabad: Union minister Piyush Goyal has said that while the Telangana Rising–2047 goal set by the state was challenging, it could be achieved through collective effort. The Union minister assured that the Centre would fully support Telangana’s development. Entrepreneurs primarily focused on policy stability, clarity in regulations, and transparency in business operations before making investments, he said.
Speaking at the curtain-raiser event for the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2026 in New Delhi, Goyal drew a parallel to the era of the Kakatiyas, and said that the 'Abhaya Shasanam' (edict of assurance) issued by the Kakatiya ruler Ganapati Deva at the port of Motupalli in 1244 AD had served as a catalyst for key reforms in maritime trade. The minister praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision to transform Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Goyal suggested that the state should formulate a dedicated action plan to boost exports and advised identifying 50 products and services from the state that possess the highest export potential. The minister recommended enhancing the global visibility of Telangana’s GI-tagged (Geographical Indication) products, emphasising the need to strengthen quality packaging, branding, and traceability systems to track the origins of these goods.
Goyal also highlighted that products such as Tandur Red Gram (pigeon peas), Chapata chillies, and Nizamabad turmeric hold significant promise in global markets. Ensuring better international pricing for these items would lead to increased incomes for farmers, the union minister said citing the recent export of the Red Gram from Hyderabad to Australia as a clear example of the potential inherent in Telangana’s agricultural produce.
Goyal also urged the state to elevate its pharmaceutical sector to even greater heights rather than limiting efforts solely to the production of generic medicines. The focus should shift toward high-value branded pharmaceuticals, innovative drugs, and biosimilars. With an eye on future requirements, Telangana should encourage investments in sectors such as space and aviation including the manufacturing of aircraft components and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services as well as in defense equipment, electronics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and machine learning.
The Centre government was undertaking several initiatives to foster industrial development in Telangana, the minister said, highlighting the development of the Industrial Smart City in Zaheerabad and the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal.
