Photographer Arrested for Circulating Morphed Videos of Leaders

Hyderabad: The city cybercrime police arrested one Chamakuri Laxman, a photographer, who created and circulated morphed videos of a senior leader and a minister on social media handles.

He obtained the pictures while they were waiting at the Balkampet Yellamma temple during Bonalu. Apart from morphed their images, Laxman added background dialogue and song extracted from a Telugu movie to give an inappropriate meaning, police said.

The police secured court orders and served notices on the nodal authorities of the social media handles for additional information regarding the accused. Based on the details they provided, police traced and arrested Laxman.

Police seized Laxman’s mobile phone which will be sent to forensic examination. The police produced Laxman before the XII ACMM Court which sent him to judicial remand. Cybecrimes ACP B. Chand Basha said the police will ask the court for custody for investigation into the case.
