Petrol, Diesel Prices Rise Again
Experts say oil marketing companies will continue revising rates frequently, given volatile crude prices.

Hyderabad: Within five days of the last hike, the Centre on Tuesday raised fuel prices by nearly 90 paise, translating to 99 paise in the city. Petrol now costs ₹111.77, up from ₹110.89, while diesel stands at ₹99.89 in Telangana.
Experts say oil marketing companies will continue revising rates frequently, given volatile crude prices. Dealers had anticipated the increase, and analysts noted the Centre may reintroduce daily pricing. Citizens, however, see the move as a harsh burden.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), which consumes six lakh litres of diesel daily for its 9,000 buses, faces added strain due to the Mahalakshmi zero‑ticket scheme offering free travel for women. Managing Director Nagi Reddy said: “Fuel has risen by ₹0.99 per litre today. Since May 15, the total increase is ₹4.25. With six lakh litres of HSD consumed daily, the monthly impact is about ₹8 crore.”
The Iran–Israel conflict, which flared on February 28, has driven crude prices to $106–$110 a barrel. The hike is expected to cascade through the domestic market, with app‑based cabs, bikes and autos already raising fares.
Amarender Reddy, president of the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association, said: “We anticipated this. The Centre may adopt daily revision, depending on international corrections.”
