People Will Give “Fourth Shock” to the BRS in Municipal Polls: Ponguleti

Revenue Minister says Congress's welfare agenda will win people’s mandate again

Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said the people would give a “fourth shock” to the BRS in the municipal elections, after having taught the party a lesson in the Assembly, Lok Sabha and gram panchayat polls.

Speaking at a meeting organised at Ashwaraopeta in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, he said that there has been no change in the attitude of the BRS leaders even after people rejected them in multiple elections.

“Instead of introspecting over the successive defeats, BRS leaders are still making irrational and egoistic statements. People will teach the BRS a lesson again in municipal elections for their attitude,” he added.

He strongly criticised the BRS leaders for indulging in mudslinging against the Congress government, which was committed to the welfare of the people by implementing its poll promises. The previous BRS government had not sanctioned pucca houses to even 10 poor families in each Assembly constituency during its 10-year rule.

He reminded that the Congress government has sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses to each assembly constituency in the last two years and additional 1,000 Indiramma houses were sanctioned to ST reserved assembly constituencies.

Stating that the welfare of tribes was accorded top priority by the state government, he said construction of magnificent stone structures with Kakatiya style was taken up at Medaram jathara in a way that they would keep it intact for up to 200 years. Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy will visit Medaram on January 18 and inaugurate the development works.

He asked the newly-elected sarpanches belonging to the Congress to dedicate themselves to serve the people of their villages and strive to strengthen the party in the field level. The state government was accorded equal priority for welfare and development with a goal to improve the living conditions of the poor in urban and rural areas, he added.
