People Seek State Help on Polluting Industries at Anthammagudem
They also said a 12-member committee constituted by the district collector on May 11 had made no progress

Hyderabad: People of Anthammagudem in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district have sought the intervention of environment minister Konda Surekha, alleging air and water pollution by nearby chemical industries and inaction by Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) officials.
In a petition, residents named units including Hazelo Laboratory, Sri Jaya Laboratories, Chemic Life Science and Optimus Drugs, among others. They alleged that emissions contained chemicals such as benzene, phosgene, toluene, xylene, dichloromethane, dimethylformamide and naphthalene. They also claimed that borewell water TDS levels had risen to 50,393 against a permissible level of 500.
The petition said agriculture had been affected and residents were reporting skin diseases, eye irritation, headaches, reproductive problems and long-term illnesses affecting the heart, lungs and kidneys. Villagers alleged that emissions from Hazelo Laboratory had become unbearable and accused the unit of manufacturing products without permission and releasing phosgene, “depriving people of their right to life.”
Residents cited findings of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in June 2025 and a TGPCB report dated March 13, 2026, stating that action was limited to forfeiture of a `24 lakh bank guarantee. They also said a 12-member committee constituted by the district collector on May 11 had made no progress.
