Pending Adilabad Poll Results, Congress, BJP Protect Their Contestants In Camps
Sources say candidates who lose their election will return home from the camps after results of the municipal elections are announced.

ADILABAD: BJP and Congress parties on Thursday shifted their candidates, who contested from the 49 wards in the Adilabad municipal elections, to camps, whose locations are not yet known.
The results of the municipal polls are to be announced on Friday. Both the parties, tipped to be favourites, want to avoid the possible poaching of winning candidates by their opponents.
Sources say candidates who lose their election will return home from the camps after results of the municipal elections are announced. The winning candidates will continue remaining in the camps. They will travel from the camps straight to the Adilabad municipality to prove their majority.
The move has been necessitated since both BJP and Congress are internally not confident of securing the majority on their own to win the Adilabad municipal chairperson’s post. The two parties will have to take support from others, including the independent candidates.
News is that Congress wants AIMIM to support it in securing the Adilabad municipal chairperson’s post.
BJP is also exploring an alternative option, particularly roping in the independents, to win the chairperson’s post in case it does not win the required number of ward councillors for a clear majority.
