Peddapalli DCC Chief to be Chosen by Opinion Poll

The selection of the new District Congress Committee president for Peddapalli will be conducted through a democratic opinion poll to ensure a capable leader is chosen

KARIMNAGAR : The selection of the new District Congress Committee (DCC) president for Peddapalli will be conducted through a democratic opinion poll to ensure a capable leader is chosen, said AICC observer and former Tamil Nadu MP Dr Jayakumar while addressing the media along with MLA Chinthakunta Vijayaramana Rao at a press meet in Peddapalli district on Wednesday.

Dr Jayakumar lauded the AICC’s decision to adopt this transparent selection process, allowing every party worker the opportunity to freely contest the DCC election. He said applications for the post would be accepted until October 22, and that opinion polls would be conducted across Peddapalli, Ramagundam, and Manthani constituencies, as well as Dharmaram village in the Dharmapuri constituency.

He urged Congress workers to strengthen the party by taking the welfare and development initiatives of the Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar, to the grassroots level.

MLA Vijayaramana Rao credited Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra with bringing a positive transformation in the party. He criticised the Central government, alleging that it has failed to act on the 42 per cent BC reservation bill passed by the Telangana Assembly. He also challenged BJP leaders who criticise the state government to instead question Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.

Former OBC Cell national coordinator Dr Kethoori Venkatesh, TPCC general secretary Rajesh, Block Congress presidents, market committee chairmen, and several heads of affiliated associations and local leaders were present.
