PD Act Invoked Against A Person From AP For Black Marketing PDS Rice
Accused is Khaja Rama Rao alias Jayanthi Rama Rao, who was native of Verulapadu of NTR district in Andhra Pradesh: Reports

NALGONDA: Khammam police on Wednesday invoked Preventive Detention (PD) Act against a person for not mending his way even after booked several times of black marketing of PDS rice.
Accused is Khaja Rama Rao alias Jayanthi Rama Rao, who was native of Verulapadu of NTR district in Andhra Pradesh.
Khammam police commissioner Sunil Dutt, in a media release, informed that Rama Rao has been purchasing the PDS rice from ration shop dealers through the agents appointed by him at different places in Khammam district and diverting it to the black market.
Five cases were filed against Rama Rao with Kalluru, Thallada, Errupalem and Chandrugonda police station in erstwhile Khammam district from April 28 to May 26 in 2026 for involving in black marketing of PDS rice.
He was also accused in two cases filed with Thallada and Kalluru police station under sections of Essential Commodities Act in 2024. He didn’t mend his way even though notices of Section 35(3) of BNS served to him. Hence, PD Act was invoked against him and shifted to Chenchalguda Central jail in Hyderabad.
