Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s efforts to control vector-borne diseases, particularly dengue, were appreciated by the Centre at the national review meeting of metropolitan surveillance units held in Nagpur.
GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan presented the city’s approach to reducing dengue cases in 2025, highlighting the use of the vector-borne diseases application. The GIS-based dashboard provides real-time data updates to support timely field-level action.
Officials at the meeting noted that the technology-driven system improved monitoring, helped identify vulnerable areas quickly and enabled coordination across departments. The Union government described Hyderabad’s data-led and coordinated approach as an effective model for managing vector-borne diseases in large urban centres.
