Passport Cell Clears 2.3 Lakh Cases

Hyderabad: Special Branch DCP K. Apoorva Rao on Sunday said the passport verification cell had achieved a 99 per cent disposal rate, having received 2,30,617 applications out of which 2,27,889 were cleared. Another 2,782 were pending investigation, she said.

SB teams identified 2,549 fake URLs, of which 10 were deleted and 390 were under process. The Special Branch also received 261 threat perception reports and disposed of 254, achieving a 97.3 per cent clearance rate.

The force monitored 7,016 programmes this year, including 2,036 of a religious nature, 852 protests and 4,128 others. The DCP said the PD Act was invoked against 22 persons and one was bound over.

Task Force Arrests 6538 in 2025

Hyderabad: The city task force said it had detected 4,513 cases and arrested 6,538 persons so far this year. The category of “social vices” topped the chart, with 2,422 persons arrested in 1,004 cases, according to task force DCP Vaibhav Gaikwad.

In narcotics cases, the task force arrested 589 persons in 414 cases. Another 328 persons were arrested in 249 “health hazard” cases. The force also detected 280 property offences, arresting 397 suspects.

DCP Gaikwad said the task force arrested 435 persons in 354 cases of violation of special and local laws. In 225 cheating cases, 266 persons were arrested, while 329 suspects were held in 268 cases under the Essential Commodities Act.

He added that 129 persons were arrested in 85 cases of bodily offences.
