Parli Gang Suspected To Be Behind Karimnagar Jewellery Heist

Forensic teams collected fingerprints from the scene, but officials said the data did not match local records. The samples are being compared with criminal databases from other states to establish identification

KARIMNAGAR: Multiple specialised police teams have launched a manhunt to trace an armed gang involved in a robbery at the PMJ Jewellery showroom in Jyothi Nagar, Karimnagar, on Sunday.

Inspector General S. Chandrasekhar Reddy reached Karimnagar the same day to supervise the investigation and coordinate a special operation to apprehend the suspects, who reportedly opened fire during the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate the involvement of a professional inter-state gang, suspected to be the ‘Parli Gang’ from Maharashtra. Intelligence inputs describe the group as experienced in organised crime, with access to imported weapons and advanced escape methods.

Forensic teams collected fingerprints from the scene, but officials said the data did not match local records. The samples are being compared with criminal databases from other states to establish identification.

Investigators said the gang adopted a planned escape strategy to avoid surveillance. They suspect the use of a carrier method involving a heavy vehicle, such as a container truck or bus, to transport motorcycles. The bikes were allegedly deflated and concealed, then reinflated and used to cross checkpoints before being reloaded onto the larger vehicle.

Technical surveillance has helped partially trace the escape route. Police said the gang moved via University Road, passed Kothapally police station, and proceeded towards Mothe village along a canal road lacking CCTV coverage. The route is believed to have extended through Baupet and Malkapur towards district borders, with a possible exit towards the Maharashtra border via Raipatnam and Luxettipet, connecting to National Highway 63.

Analysis of mobile tower data identified several suspicious phone numbers active during the robbery but switched off immediately afterwards. Police suspect these were used by the gang members.

Officials are also examining a possible link to a Saturday night incident in Wankidi, Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, where two motorcycles evaded a routine check. Investigators believe the same individuals may have reached Karimnagar ahead of the robbery.

Although initial inputs suggested movement towards Sircilla, later sightings near Choppadandi shifted the search towards Peddapalli and Mancherial districts. Police said technical evidence and field intelligence are expected to lead to a breakthrough.
