Parents Booked for Child Marriage After Video Goes Viral Near Nalgonda
The marriage was allegedly performed near a temple on the night of May 6 in the presence of villagers. Kesharajupally is about three km from the Nalgonda District Collectorate.

Nalgonda: A 19-year-old woman, her parents and the parents of an 18-year-old boy were booked for allegedly performing a child marriageat Kesharajupally in Thipparthy mandal of Nalgonda district after their families came to know about their relationship, police said.
The marriage was allegedly performed near a temple on the night of May 6 in the presence of villagers. Kesharajupally is about three km from the Nalgonda District Collectorate.
Officials of the District Child Protection Unit acted after a video of the marriage went viral on social media. After verifying the ages of the boy and the woman, DCPU officials lodged a complaint with the Thipparthy police.
District child protection officer K. Ganesh said a complaint was lodged against the woman and the parents of both. He said officials were trying to identify others present at the marriage venue based on the video.
Based on the complaint, Thipparthy police registered a case under Sections 10 and 11 of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and launched an investigation.
