The High Court on Wednesday had issued a stay order directing the police to halt the investigation till March 3.

Hyderabad:The Panjagutta police, investigating phone-tapping allegations against former minister T. Harish Rao, former DCP P. Radhakishan Rao and three others, on Thursday approached the High Court with an urgent plea seeking vacation of a stay and permission to investigate the case.

The High Court on Wednesday had issued a stay order directing the police to halt the investigation till March 3.

Panjagutta ACP S. Mohan Kumar filed the interim application on Thursday, stating that the stay would impact adversely the investigation and also reflect on the petitions before the trial court where the police have sought custody of the remaining accused.

When public prosecutor Palle Nageshwar Rao requested the High Court for an urgent hearing, Justice K. Lakshman said it would be heard on Friday.

The case was based on a complaint filed by Gandhagoni Chakradhar Goud, a Congress leader.
