Panic Over Tiger Sighting in Mahabubabad Village
Officials assured villagers that the animal would be identified after scientific examination and urged them not to panic

MAHABUBABAD: Panic gripped Arpanapalli village in Kesamudram mandal of Mahabubabad district following reports on social media that a tiger was roaming in the area. Responding swiftly, Forest Department officials conducted a search operation on Tuesday and examined suspected animal footprints found near agricultural fields.
According to preliminary observations, the footprints appeared to resemble those of a jungle cat. However, officials said the animal could not be conclusively identified at this stage. Photographs and other evidence would undergo scientific analysis and laboratory examination under the supervision of senior officials before the animal's identity was confirmed.
According to local residents, farmer Gandikota Kumar, who had leased agricultural land belonging to Gandham Srinivas in Compartment No. 1134, spotted a wild animal while going to untie his dog on Monday evening. Kumar regularly tied the dog in the field to protect his crops from monkeys and suspected that the animal he saw could have been a tiger. The information quickly spread, causing panic among villagers.
Forest personnel led by B. Yaqoob and M. Narender reached the area early on Tuesday and searched the surrounding forest, agricultural fields and bunds along with local residents. They examined and photographed the footprints from different angles.
Officials assured villagers that the animal would be identified after scientific examination and urged them not to panic. They also asked residents to immediately report any suspicious wildlife movement.
