Panel Constituted To Look Into Safe Rescue Operations In Critical Zone In SLBC

Hyderabad: The State government has constituted a technical committee to look into specifically the technically feasible and safe manner for taking up rescue efforts in the critical zone of last 50 meters at Srisailam Left Bank Tunnel (SLBC) so that the bodies of remaining six missing workers can be extricated and handed over to their families in a time bound manner.
Special Chief Secretary to Government Avind Kumar said the purpose of constituting the committee was to conclude the rescue efforts in a safe manner without compromising the lives of rescuers. The committee should follow the technical advice of the subject expert agencies and shall carry out the rescue works duly obtaining all necessary approvals and permissions from the appropriate agencies.
Telangana government, based on the review held on March 24, was keen to locate and extricate the bodies of all the remaining six missing workers, which, despite the best efforts of all agencies (both from central and the State Government) involved in the rescue efforts all this while, remains to be located as its most likely to be buried in the muck in the critical zone
Accordingly, the government constituted a technical committee to look into feasible and safe manner for taking up rescue efforts in the critical zone of last 50 meters at SLBC.
The continuing rescue efforts of the last 55 days have ensured that the muck and metal from the dismantled TBM was cleared up to the last 50 mtrs stretch and in the process, more than 800 tons of metal and about 1200 cmt of muck has been taken out.
