Panchayat Polls Peaceful in Adilabad Region
Polling was held for 439 Gram Panchayats out of 506 in the erstwhile Adilabad district.

ADILABAD: Gram Panchayat elections in the first phase were conducted peacefully across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Thursday amid tight police security. District authorities monitored polling, especially at sensitive booths, through webcasting from their control rooms.
Polling was held for 439 Gram Panchayats out of 506 in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
Superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan inspected Keshavapatnam in Ichoda mandal, a sensitive booth with a sizeable Multhani population. Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah visited polling centres in Ichoda, Sirikonda and Indravelli mandals and reviewed the conduct of polling. He also checked distribution of voter slips at Shyampur village in Utnoor mandal.
Sirikonda, Indravelli, Utnoor, Gadiguda, Narnoor and Ichoda mandals went to polls in this phase. The district recorded 75.25% polling, with 1,14,847 votes cast out of 1,52,626.
In Komaram Bheem Asifabad, polling was held in Jainoor, Kerameri, Lingapur and Sirpur (U) mandals, registering 79.81% turnout (76,668 votes out of 96,068).
Mancherial district recorded 80.04% polling (95,810 votes out of 1,19,700) in Dandepalli, Hajipur, Jannaram and Luxettipet mandals.
Nirmal district registered 80.42% polling (97,007 votes out of 1,20,630) in Pembi, Mamada, Laxmanchanda, Khanapur, Kadam and Dasturabad mandals. Election observer (General) Aisha Masrat Khanam inspected several polling stations in Pembi, Khanapur and Dilawarpur mandals.
In Lingoli Thanda of Utnoor mandal, a husband-and-wife duo were elected Sarpanch and Upa Sarpanch.
Unanimous elections were reported in several mandals: 33 of 166 GPs in Adilabad, 16 of 135 in Nirmal, 6 in Mancherial (polls not held for 3 of 90), and 7 of 113 in Komaram Bheem Asifabad.
Across the four districts, 81 Gram Panchayats in Mancherial, 106 in Asifabad, 133 in Adilabad and 119 in Nirmal went for polling.
