Over 20 lakh people visit as Numaish concludes

The visitor count is expected to have crossed 20 lakh when the exhibition concluded on Monday

Hyderabad: The 84th All India Industrial Exhibition, which is also called Numaish, concluded on Monday. By Sunday, 19.72 lakh people had visited the exhibition, which featured over 2,000 stalls and provided seasonal employment for nearly 20,000 people. The visitor count is expected to have crossed 20 lakh when the exhibition concluded on Monday.

K. Niranjan, the vice-president of the Exhibition Society, noted its history since 1938 when it started as a small fair to promote local goods. Now, it is one of India's largest industrial exhibitions.

"We have given discounts on most of our products," said Ravi Kumar, a textile seller. "Today is the last day, and more people are coming. Our goal is to sell more, and customers are happy to buy when there are discounts and offers."

Among the exhibitors was Lasya Marupudi, a fifth-year PharmD student representing Jan Aushadhi Kendras, a government initiative promoting affordable generic medicines.

"We wanted to educate people on the benefits of generic medicines like Metformin and Paracetamol, which have been in the market for decades. These medicines are safe and cost-effective. Our stall provided free blood pressure and glucose checkups, and we received a great response," she said.

Her stall also distributed sanitary napkins at Rs 1 per piece to promote menstrual hygiene.

"It feels great to be acknowledged. This recognition will help more people become aware of the benefits of generic medicines and affordable healthcare options," she added.
