Over 1 Lakh Ganesh Idols Immersed, Process Likely to End by Afternoon
From Friday morning, major procession routes, including Mozamjahi Market, Charminar and Telangana Talli Flyover, witnessed a steady movement of vehicles carrying idols.
Hyderabad: More than 1 lakh Ganesh idols have been immersed in Hyderabad so far, with only a few idols left to be taken for immersion. The immersion process was still underway on Saturday morning and is expected to be completed by the afternoon.
A long queue of Ganesh idols was seen along the MJ Market streets, as devotees continued to move their idols towards the immersion points.
A total of 1.24 lakh Ganesh idols were registered across the state in 2026. However, the overall number of idols worshipped during the festival is much higher, with nearly 4 lakh idols estimated to have been installed across the state, including those at homes, apartments and gated communities.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Saturday said the Ganesh Nimajjanam Shobhayatra in Hyderabad has been proceeding peacefully since Friday, with the cooperation of the public helping police prevent any untoward incidents.
Sajjanar thanked citizens for their cooperation and urged them to continue following police and traffic advisories during the immersion process.
With lakhs of devotees gathering at Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace Road, Liberty, Moazzam Jahi Market and other areas, traffic movement slowed down at several locations, resulting in some delay in the immersion process.
As the procession is expected to continue until Saturday afternoon, police and traffic personnel are working continuously to facilitate the smooth and speedy immersion of the idols.
In view of the ongoing procession, traffic restrictions on major roads along the Shobhayatra routes will continue on Saturday.
Sajjanar said normal vehicular movement is not being permitted on roads around Tank Bund, Necklace Road, NTR Marg, PV Statue and Indira Gandhi Rotary due to the large number of Ganesh idols and devotees in these areas.
He appealed to motorists to avoid these routes unless absolutely necessary, postpone their journeys where possible, or take alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
The Commissioner also urged citizens not to venture onto the roads unnecessarily and requested everyone to cooperate with the police and traffic departments by following official advisories and instructions issued from time to time.
