Osmansagar Gates Opened

Six roads closed, commuters forced to take long detours; police regulate flow

Hyderabad: Eight gates of Osmansagar were opened, leading to water inundating six roads leading to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Narsingi. Commuters are forced to use alternative routes. The solar roof cycle track was also waterlogged.

ORR service roads near Narsingi police station heading towards and from the Telangana Police Academy Junction, two link roads near Exit 18 of the ORR near Narsingi, a bridge at connecting Narsingi and Bairagiguda and another bridge connecting Mancherevula and Narsingi were closed.

Finally, the police had to coordinate with the HMWS&SB to regulate water flow. The situation improved after that, with the outflow from Osmansagar falling from 4,096 cusecs to 2,704 cusecs.

Traffic police coordinated with line departments and allowed vehicles from the service road connecting Narsingi and TGPA, but restricted traffic from entering from TGPA.

Speaking about the commuting woes, K. Arvind from Bairagiguda said that, due to the bridge that got inundated near Dews Ville, he had to commute for an additional 8 km to reach the ORR. Many people also complained that the closure of service roads added to their commuting woes.
