Osmansagar Gates Lifted First Time
Santhosh Kumar, general manager, HMWS&SB, said the inflows into both reservoirs had increased due to the ongoing rains, and the gates of Osmansagar were opened as a precaution to maintain safe levels.

Hyderabad: For the first time this monsoon, the gates of Osmansagar reservoir were opened on Wednesday following heavy inflows caused by continuous rains. With continuous rains, heavy inflows have been recorded into the twin reservoirs, Osmansagar and Himayatsagar.
By evening, officials lifted two gates of Osmansagar by one foot each at 4 pm, releasing about 226 cusecs of water downstream. The reservoir stood at 1788.60 feet (3.579 TMC) against its full level of 1790 feet (3.900 TMC). Inflows were recorded at 1,200 cusecs.
At Himayatsagar, one gate was opened by three feet to release 1,017 cusecs of water as inflows touched 1,600 cusecs. The reservoir level was at 1763.00 feet (2.781 TMC) compared to the full tank level of 1763.50 feet (2.970 TMC).
