Hyderabad: The oracle Swarnalatha on Monday cautioned parents against failing to supervise their children and warned the youths against indulging in immoral activities. She urged people to lead a morally strong life, warning that she would show no mercy in taking their lives if they failed to do so.
Delivering a prophecy while standing on a wet earthen pot on behalf of the deity during Rangam, an important event of Lashker Bonalu, at the Ujjaini Mahankali temple, Swarnalatha said, “Parents have left their children to their own devices without properly supervising them. People are indulging in immoral affairs.”
She also pointed out that people had become arrogant and that their behaviour was leading to destruction. The priest requested her to show mercy and shower her blessings on children and the youth.
She also predicted abundant rainfall and good agricultural yield this year. But she warned of floods, fire accidents and loss of human life.
Swarnalatha also expressed anger at devotees for failing to fulfil the promises they had made. The temple authorities had promised to install the deity’s idol but had not done so. On behalf of the devotees, the priest promised that the installation would be completed before the next Bonalu festival.
In the evening, various temples and individuals took out Palaharam Bandi processions featuring grand decorations and brass bands.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Rama Theertha Sharma, a priest at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, said, “On Monday, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, MLA Talasani Srinivas, principal secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer and several others visited the temple. Scores of people offered ‘Vadi Biyam’ to the goddess.”
A large number of devotees reached the Ujjaini Mahankali temple in the morning to witness the Rangam. On Monday, a huge picture of the deity was mounted atop an elephant, which toured the surrounding areas, including Monda market and Alpha hotel, before returning to the temple.
“This year’s Bonalu festival concluded in peace and harmony. The major events held on Monday were Rangam and Gaja Vahana Urregimpu. A large number of VVIPs, religious leaders and thousands of devotees took part. All the events were conducted peacefully and successfully,” said Ujjaini Mahankali temple executive officer Gutta Manohar Reddy.
