Opposition Party’s Conspiracies Won’t Affect Congress Govt, Says Bhatti
Deputy CM says welfare schemes have reached 93 lakh families across Telangana

Nalgonda: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said that the Congress government would stand tall and work tirelessly for the public, no matter how many conspiracies were hatched by the Opposition. He said the Opposition was conspiring against the Congress government because its welfare programmes were fundamentally changing lives and increasing its popularity.
He pointed out that there were 1.1 crore families in Telangana, and the benefits of at least one of the welfare schemes had reached nearly 93 lakh families. "In just one and a half years, we have implemented some form of welfare programme for every stage of life, from birth to old age," he added.
Bhatti was speaking at a public meeting organised as part of the Indiramma house patta (land title) distribution programme in Madhira in Khammam district,
Bhatti said that those who ruled for 10 years did so only for their own interests, converting people’s needs into votes with false promises. “They did not solve people’s problems. They couldn’t even clear the bills for the houses sanctioned by the previous Congress government. They lived luxuriously, looted the state, and ignored the suffering of the people,” he alleged.
“If the BRS government had built houses for the poor during their 10 years in power, there wouldn’t have been a need today to spend thousands of crores on Indiramma housing,” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister accused the previous rulers of plunging the state into debt by securing massive loans and burdening future generations with repayment. "Now, we are forced to pay both principal and interest on their loans," he added.
Bhatti said that the financial system was in shambles when the Congress government took over. But under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Cabinet was working 18 hours a day, mobilising every rupee and spending every paisa for the poor. "For the past decade, the poor waited in vain, dreaming of a home. It is only after the Indiramma government came to power that people began to believe that dreams could come true," he maintained.
He noted that once the Congress formed the government, it immediately began construction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma homes in the first phase, spending `5 lakh per house — totalling `22,500 crore in just the first year — a level of investment not seen in any other state. “This is not a government only for Congress workers or leaders; it is for all the truly poor. We are building homes for everyone who needs them,” he added.
Bhatti emphasised that this plan wasn’t an overnight decision. Before the elections, Revanth Reddy, then PCC president, conducted padayatras and public meetings. As Opposition Leader, he also walked across the state from Adilabad to Khammam over four months through the peak of summer during the People’s March. “During the padayatras, we witnessed the pain of the homeless poor and vowed to build homes for them,” he added.
“In Indiramma Rajyam, no poor person should be left without a home. The people’s government is ready to spend any amount to ensure everyone can live with self-respect,” he assured.
Stating that the Congress government was moving forward with a people’s agenda, he said that the state government was providing subsidised rice to 93 lakh poor families through ration shops. To help them cook that rice, it was also offering an LPG cylinder refill for `500. Free electricity supply to domestic connections with usage up to 200 units was also easing the financial burden on the poor, he maintained.
