One in 7 Indiramma Houses Must Be in Urban Areas: Ponguleti
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reviews housing, Bhu Bharati Act rollout, and NEET readiness across districts

Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Friday directed officials to allot at least 500 Indiramma houses in urban areas of each Assembly constituency out of the sanctioned 3,500 houses. The minister stated that Indiramma houses should be constructed in not less than 400 square feet and not more than 600 square feet, and collectors must ensure this guideline is followed strictly.
He noted that even if construction is underway, houses will be cancelled if beneficiaries are found to be ineligible. Beneficiaries should be selected from economically weaker sections regardless of whether they are in List-1, List-2 or List-3.
He instructed district collectors to speed up the beneficiary selection process. He said that the list of beneficiaries should be approved daily by in-charge ministers as selection progresses. Srinivas Reddy was speaking at a video conference with collectors and SPs of all districts on Friday and reviewed the implementation of new Bhu Bharati Act, Indiramma housing scheme and NEET preparations.
With regard to Bhu Bharati Act, the minister directed officials to hold 'revenue sadassulu' from May 5 to 20 in one mandal per district, across 28 mandals in remaining 28 districts, similar to the meetings held during April 17 to 30 in four mandals across four districts.
Applications received from people from four pilot mandals of Bhu Bharati in April must be resolved by May 31, he said. If any application is rejected, a written explanation must be provided by officials. So far, Bhu Bharati awareness meetings have been held in 590 of 605 mandals, with participation from 85,527 people and 162,577 farmers.
Srinivas Reddy said the details of government lands should be updated in revenue records without delay. For assigned land, information should be collected about those who occupy without title and those who have title but do not occupy the land.
Regarding the upcoming NEET, the minister asked officials to make sure that students face no issues during the exam scheduled for May 4. This year, 72,572 students from Telangana are appearing for NEET. Accordingly, 190 exam centres have been set up across 24 districts. Drinking water, ORS packets, and medical kits should be made available at the centres, he said.
