Omega Radiologist Spent ₹70L On Drugs, Say Hyderabad Cops

HYDERABAD: A day after radiologist Dr Chigurupati Namrata was arrested by the Raidurgam police while she was purchasing cocaine from a Mumbai-based supplier, it was found that had become substance dependent for the past six months.
According to Raidurgam inspector Ch Venkanna, police have launched a full-fledged investigation and sent requisitions to banks, to figure out where the money for the contraband flowed, which would further help them analyse how wide the drug network is.
“While some were cash transactions, some were made online. She has spent over Rs 70 lakh on drugs overtime,” an official said.
Of the drug network, the police said that more members were suspected to be a part and efforts are underway to nab them.
On Saturday morning, Dr Namrata was caught purchasing 53 grams of cocaine, for which she had paid `5 lakh in cash.
As of now, Balakrishna, the supplier, and Dr Namrata have been arrested and remanded by the police. The main supplier, Vansh Thakkar, remains absconding.
