Officials Seal Shamshabad Land For Bullet Train Station

Hyderabad: A day after protesters attacked police personnel guarding the fencing of land earmarked for the development of the bullet train terminal at Bahadurguda in Shamshabad, officials successfully sealed off 650 acres of government land with a barbed wire.
On Saturday, some locals led by political leaders attacked officials belonging to HYDRAA, the police and revenue departments when they were erecting the fence during which Shamshabad DCP Yogesh Gautam and other personnel were injured. The police booked cases against 36 people.
Several locals, including farmers, averred that they have been cultivating on the land for decades, and the government had promised to issue pattas to them. However, they said that the officials have neither obtained their consent nor promised compensation before erecting the fence.
Citing the 1954 Khasra Pahani records, revenue department officials contended that 650 acres of land in Survey No.s 25 and 26 at Bahadurguda were recorded as government land Though normalcy was restored, the police deployed a large contingent at the site and the roads that lead to it. With BRS and BJP leaders joining the protestors on Saturday, the cops have now made sure outsiders and mobs do not enter Bahadurguda.
Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud slammed the BRS and BJP leaders for obstructing the development work. When the BRS was in power, the MLA said he requested pattas for the farmers for the same land, but BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, who was then the minister, rejected the demand, saying it was government land.
“When the BRS was in power, they denied the same request, but now they are instigating farmers against the government.”
According to the FIR of the Future City commissionerate’s Shamshabad police, a group gathered at the site to be fenced off at about 10.30 am on Saturday, objected to the operation, raised slogans against the government and attempted to prevent revenue officials and police personnel from carrying out official duties. The group also proposed to stage a protest at the location. To prevent any offence, police took all 36 persons into preventive custody and shifted them to the police station before registering a case under BNSS Section 170 for preventive arrest.
