Officials On Alert After Continuous Rain In Mulugu

Addressing the meeting, Shashanka emphasized the urgent need for precautionary measures to prevent loss of life or any untoward incidents.

WARANGAL: The district administration must remain on high alert in view of the continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days and the rising floodwaters from upstream, instructed K. Shashanka, Special Officer for the erstwhile Warangal district and Commissioner of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA), during a review meeting held at the Collectorate in Mulugu district on Monday.

Addressing the meeting, Shashanka emphasized the urgent need for precautionary measures to prevent loss of life or any untoward incidents. He directed officials to focus special attention on high-risk areas, particularly along the Godavari River and Jampanna Vagu.

He announced a ban on fishing activities in the Godavari and Jampanna Vagu, as well as in and around Ramappa and Laknavaram lakes, streams, and reservoirs across the district. A ban was also imposed on travel through flood-affected areas.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams and personnel from various departments have been placed on standby for rapid response, and field staff have been directed to remain on high alert. Special precautions are to be implemented in low-lying areas and around culverts and lakes.

Residents living in old or dilapidated houses have been advised to move to safer locations. Officials were instructed to continuously monitor lakes and canals to prevent any breaches and to install alarm systems in low-lying villages to warn residents of rising water levels.

Drawing from past experiences, Shashanka urged all officials to take proactive measures, especially in tribal villages, to ensure public safety and avoid any unfortunate incidents.
