Nurse Dies in Road Mishap in Asifnagar

The victim, Faheemunnisa, was employed at a private hospital and was on her way to duty when the accident occurred.

HYDERABAD, JUNE 21

A 42‑year‑old nurse succumbed to injuries after being hit by a car while walking to work near her residence in Asifnagar on Sunday morning. The victim, Faheemunnisa, was employed at a private hospital and was on her way to duty when the accident occurred. Police said a multi-utility vehicle struck her and the occupants fled, abandoning the vehicle.

Liquor bottles were reportedly found inside the abandoned vehicle, raising suspicion of drunken driving. Records showed the vehicle had earlier been booked by RGIA police in 2025 for being driven without valid insurance.

Following a Dial 100 alert, police rushed to the spot and administered CPR after finding her unconscious. She regained breathing and was shifted to a nearby hospital, but succumbed later in the afternoon despite doctors’ efforts. Police seized the vehicle and launched an investigation. Officials said the registered owners, who had rented it out for self‑drive use, were taken into custody for questioning. CCTV footage is being examined to identify the driver.
