NPDCL Prepares for Uninterrupted Power Supply During Cyclone
24-hour control rooms, emergency repair teams and buffer stocks of electrical equipment kept ready; special focus on Godavari basin areas

TG NPDCL officials have intensified precautionary measures to prevent disruptions to power supply during the cyclone. The corporation's CMD, Karnati Varun Reddy, has directed officials to make all necessary arrangements to tackle the situation effectively and restore electricity supply as quickly as possible to minimise inconvenience to consumers.
On Monday, he reviewed preparedness through a video conference with superintending engineers of 11 circles from the corporation's head office at Nakkalagutta in Hanamkonda. He reviewed the situation in areas likely to be affected by the cyclone across the Khammam, Kothagudem, Mulugu, Bhupalpally, Mancherial, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Asifabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar and Hanamkonda circles and instructed officials to remain alert.
He directed officials to establish round-the-clock control rooms at circle, division and subdivision levels to continuously monitor power supply. Concerned officers and field staff must remain available, while officers on duty are instructed to stay at their respective headquarters. Departmental breakdown teams and agency personnel should be kept ready for emergency repairs, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) vehicles should be deployed wherever necessary.
The CMD instructed officials to maintain adequate buffer stocks of electrical equipment, including power poles, distribution transformers (DTRs), conductors and insulators. Nodal officers in areas along the Godavari basin, which could face a greater impact from the cyclone, were asked to monitor ground conditions continuously. The load monitoring cell at the corporate office was also directed to regularly review power supply, load conditions, interruptions and the progress of repairs.
Varun Reddy further instructed officials to monitor loads feeder-wise and distribution transformer-wise and make use of interlinking facilities between power lines. They were asked to prepare plans to restore supply through alternative routes as quickly as possible if any line or feeder was damaged.
He directed officials to keep personnel, vehicles and equipment ready to respond immediately to situations such as fallen poles, damaged power lines and transformer faults. Officers at all levels were instructed to coordinate closely to ensure prompt repairs and minimise disruptions to consumers during the cyclone.
