Notices To Voters And Hearings Delayed In Adilabad District In Second Phase Of SIR
Delay in serving voter notices and conducting hearings has prompted Adilabad officials to speed up the second phase of SIR before the November 5 deadline.
There is a delay in booth-level officers (BLOs) serving notices to voters and conducting as far as the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the Adilabad district.
Following this, district collector Rajarshi Shah has set daily targets for BLOs to deliver notices, conduct hearings, and collect documents. Officials acknowledge that the process must be speeded up before the deadline of November 5.
Expressing displeasure, the collector has directed tahsildars and the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer to come out with an action plan to complete the second phase of SIR in time.
Rajarshi Shah asked officials concerned to issue 900 notices every day in each mandal and update the details of progress every day. BLOs should remain in the field and ensure that 100 per cent of notices are delivered to the voters.
There are 26,000 notices yet to be delivered to voters in the Adilabad Urban mandal alone. Further, only 600 hearings have been conducted till now for voters who received notices.
According to official sources, while the total number of electors in the SIR process being undertaken in Adilabad assembly constituency is 2,50,393, notices to be generated are 85,525. The corresponding numbers are 2,83,299 and 68,195 in Mancherial assembly constituency and 2,01,639 and 64,900 in Boath assembly constituency.
Officials concerned will have to verify the documents, including supporting documents, for 1987, 2002, and 2004 before suggesting corrections in the list of voters to the returning officer.
Voters must use Form 6 for fresh voters, Form 7 for objections and Form 8 for corrections in the voters' list.
