No Arrests Made In Ammunition Theft From Madras Regiment Premises in Bolaram

Hyderabad: No arrests have been made so far in the theft of weapons and ammunition from the Madras Regiment premises in Bolaram, Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar said on Thursday, cautioning against speculative reports circulating in mainstream and social media.
The investigation into the major security breach was continuing, with multiple specialised teams working on the case. Teams from the Cantonment and Malkajgiri special operations teams and Hyderabad Task Force, along with Military Intelligence, are pursuing different leads and examining the circumstances surrounding the theft. Both military and police officials, however, have maintained silence on specific investigative developments.

Bolaram police on receiving a complaint registered a case under the BNS provisions for theft at sensitive places and break-in. Investigators were examining CCTV footage, questioning personnel who were on duty and checking the security arrangements around the armoury.
The investigation also led to the recovery of 160 electric detonators from a nearby private venture, though police registered a separate case under the Explosive Substances Act and their connection to the weapons theft has not been established.
DCP Sridhar said, "Regarding weapons theft case of Bolaram PS...The investigation is in progress and till now no arrests are done. Many speculative news items are being circulated in mainstream as well as social media which are not correct, and all the media persons are hereby informed that any developments in investigation will be informed officially by Malkajgiri police from time to time."
