NMC Renews 33 PG Medical Courses At Gandhi College

The NMC has renewed 33 postgraduate medical courses at Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad, for the 2026–27 academic year.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has renewed 33 broad and super‑specialty postgraduate medical courses at Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad, for the 2026–27 academic year.

A team from NMC inspected the college three days ago before issuing the renewal. The Post‑Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) granted approval based on the Annual Disclosure Report (ADR)‑2025 submitted by the institution, which is affiliated to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences.

The renewed courses include 17 MD programmes, five MS courses, five M.Ch programmes and six DM courses.

Among the MD courses, General Medicine has 20 seats, Anaesthesiology 17, Paediatrics 15, while Pathology, Microbiology and Dermatology have 10 seats each. Radio Diagnosis has nine seats, Physiology eight, Forensic Medicine eight, Pharmacology seven, Biochemistry seven, Respiratory Medicine five and Geriatrics four.

The MS programmes include Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 25 seats, General Surgery with 20, Orthopaedics with 13, ENT with 10 and Ophthalmology with six seats.

At the super‑specialty level, M.Ch courses include Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery with four seats each, Urology with two, and Paediatric Surgery and Thoracic/Cardiothoracic Surgery with one seat each. The DM programmes include Medical Gastroenterology with five seats, Nephrology with four, Cardiology and Critical Care Medicine with three each, and Endocrinology and Neurology with two each.

The NMC clarified that the actual number of seats will be as permitted by its Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). The renewal is subject to continued compliance with NMC standards, with the order warning that discrepancies or deficiencies could lead to stoppage of courses under the NMC Act, 2019.
