Nizamabad: Pvt, govt colleges take up campaign for Intermediate admissions

Nizamabad: Private and government colleges in the state are making efforts for enrolment of more students in Intermediate admissions. Parents these days preferred to admit their children either in day scholar courses or in residential education at Intermediate level and hence the special push.

Earlier, parents used to take admission to intermediate courses for their children in Hyderabad. Now, corporate colleges set up their branches in Nizamabad for such admissions. By appointing PR officers, corporate colleges enrolled Intermediate students at nearby places. Students from Nizamabad, Armoor, Bodhan, Kamareddy, Banswada etc and from surrounding villages preferred to join corporate colleges in Hyderabad.

In view of high potential for such courses in undivided Nizamabad district, private colleges based in Karimnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad opened their branches in Nizamabad for the last few years. To attract the students from urban and rural areas, the college managements offered MPC, BiPC and other courses.

For Intermediate education, fees of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh was collected from the students.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a private sector employee Rajendra Prasad said he got admission for his son in a corporate college in Hyderabad. “As his friends are studying in Hyderabad, my son was also interested in joining a course there,” he said.

“Compared with colleges in Nizamabad, the fees in Hyderabad is almost double. However, studying in Hyderabad would definitely change the exposure towards studies,” he felt.

Meanwhile, junior lecturers of government colleges are also doing door-to-door campaigns for student admissions to Intermediate courses. They are explaining the exclusive nature of colleges for boys and girls and residential college facilities.

The Intermediate admissions campaign has reached peak level. Both private and government colleges are seriously trying to get students for new admissions to the first-year Intermediate course.
