Nizamabad: Municipal Mayor, Chairperson Candidates Shifted To Safe Locations
The Congress, BJP and BRS have moved their candidates to undisclosed places, keeping them away from public view as they await the indirect elections to mayor, deputy mayor, chairman and vice-chairman posts in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and other municipalities.

Nizamabad: Ahead of the elections to mayor and chairperson posts in urban local bodies, major political parties have shifted their contestants to safe locations to prevent poaching and political pressure.
The Congress, BJP and BRS have moved their candidates to undisclosed places, keeping them away from public view as they await the indirect elections to mayor, deputy mayor, chairman and vice-chairman posts in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and other municipalities.
The ruling Congress is confident of winning the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and municipalities in Bodhan, Armoor, Bheemgal, Kamareddy, Yellareddy, Banswada and Bichkunda. TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, state government advisers Mohammad Ali Shabbir and P Sudarshan Reddy, along with MLAs R Bhupathi Reddy, Madanmohan Rao and Laxmikanth Rao, are actively overseeing efforts to secure chairperson and vice-chairperson posts.
The BJP has also shifted its candidates contesting in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and other municipalities. BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind and MLAs Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and K Venkataramana Reddy are closely coordinating efforts to secure key posts. The party’s state and central leadership is monitoring developments.
The BRS, too, is hopeful of playing a decisive role in the election of the Nizamabad mayor and chairpersons in other municipalities. A senior BRS leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the party was optimistic due to what he described as limited numbers for the Congress and BJP in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. “In municipal elections, outcomes can change till the last moment,” he said.
Elections to the mayor, deputy mayor, municipal chairman and vice-chairman posts will be held on February 14, with the elected representatives set to assume office on February 16. Counting of votes will take place on February 13 at designated centres under tight police security. Leaders of all major parties remain engaged in intense negotiations ahead of the indirect elections.
