Nizamabad: Engineers’ Day Celebrated at Government Polytechnic
Eight retired engineers were felicitated as part of the programme.
Nizamabad: Engineers’ Day was celebrated at Government Polytechnic in Nizamabad on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The programme was organised by the Polytechnic and its Alumni Association.
Transco Nizamabad superintending engineer P.V. Rajeswara Rao, panchayat raj superintending engineer Rathod Shankar and alumni representatives offered floral tributes to the statue of Sir Visvesvaraya.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest P.V. Rajeswara Rao said Visvesvaraya rose from being a diploma engineer to receiving the Bharat Ratna and had become an inspiration for generations.
He advised students to draw inspiration from his life, work hard in their studies and bring a good name to their college, families and Nizamabad district.
He said Nizamabad Polytechnic had earned a prominent position among polytechnic colleges in the state and called upon everyone to work together to maintain its reputation.
Guest of honour Rathod Shankar advised students to work hard, achieve higher positions and extend their services to the college and its students in future.
Eight retired engineers were felicitated as part of the programme. Medals, certificates and mementos were presented to branch toppers. Six students were also given certificates and cheques of `10,000 each under the aegis of the Bigala Krishnamurthy Charitable Trust.
