High Tension in Armoor Over BJP-Congress Protests
Several councillors and Congress leaders were taken into preventive custody and shifted to a police station. Police remained on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.
Nizamabad: Tension prevailed in Armoor of Nizamabad district on Monday after police placed BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Congress Armoor in-charge Vinay Reddy under house arrest ahead of planned protests by both parties.
Congress leaders had given a call to lay siege to Paidi Rakesh Reddy's residence in Ankapur, demanding that the BJP fulfil the promises it had made during the elections as a part of 'Chalo Ankapur' Programme. In response, BJP leaders said the party was prepared to answer all the questions raised by the Congress.
Anticipating law and order issues, police imposed heavy security at Paidi Rakesh Reddy's residence. Section 144 had already been enforced in the Armoor area.
Questioning the police action, BJP MLA Paidi Rakesh Reddy asked, "Why are the police placing us under house arrest when we are planning to hold a peaceful protest?"

Rakesh Reddy also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and made sharp remarks against the Congress government. Addressing the media, he alleged that people could walk into the showrooms owned by Congress leaders, take a scooter, and ask them to issue the bill, referring to the party's election promises.
He also questioned the government over its promise of providing 10 grams of gold to eligible women, alleging that the assurance had not been fulfilled.
He said the BJP would launch a movement to awaken the people of Telangana from the place where Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had suffered an electoral defeat.
Rakesh Reddy also expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in Telangana in the next elections, drawing inspiration from the party's recent electoral victories in West Bengal and Assam.
