Nirmal Police Dog Squad Gets State Recognition for Outstanding Crime Detection

Hyderabad: The dog squad of Nirmal district police achieved State-level recognition for its outstanding performance in helping the investigators to solve cases.
The first half-year service report from January to June released by the Telangana Police Intelligence Department stated that the three police dogs - “Yami”, “Jessie”, and “Bolt" played a significant role in several important cases registered within Nirmal district, including murder, suspicious death, thefts, temple burglary, and narcotics cases.
They were instrumental in identifying crucial evidence at crime scenes, tracking suspects, and accelerating investigations.
Speaking on the occasion, district Superintendent of Police Dr. G. Janaki Sharmila congratulated and presented appreciation certificates to the police personnel G. Parameshwar, K. Srinivas, and G. Sayender, who worked in coordination with the dogs and played a key role in solving cases.
She said that the services provided by the dog squad in criminal investigations were invaluable and that their role in scientific investigation is becoming increasingly important day by day. She encouraged the dog handlers to continue working with the same dedication and discipline to achieve more successes in the future and bring further recognition to the district police department.
The state-level recognition earned by the district police dog squad is a matter of pride for the district police department, Sharmila added.
Jessi is a German shepherd breed, while Yami is Belgian Malinois and Bolt is Labrador. Bolt helps the police in detecting narcotics, while Jessi and Yami assist in giving clues at the crime scenes.
Jessi is the senior most among three dogs and has assisted the district police for the last nine years. The three dogs were inducted into the district unit after completing one-year training at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA) in Moinabad.
A few days ago, Jessi helped the investigators in unraveling the mystery behind the murder of a person at Shamgarh fort in the town. Jessi tracked the route from where the accused travelled to and fro and based on this clue the police checked the footage of surveillance cameras installed at a shop and identified the accused.
