NIMS hosts Sun University team for discussion on complex aortic pathologies

Hyderabad:A team led by Dr Alessandro Della Corte from Sun University, Italy, visited the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) on Monday for an expert discussion on complex aortic pathologies. The delegation met with Nims director Dr Nagaraj Bheerappa and Prof. Ambareesh, head of the cardiothoracic department, before visiting hospital wards to interact with patients and understand the medical services provided at the institute.

The visit culminated in a case-based discussion at the learning centre with the department of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery (CVTS) and the anaesthesia department at Nims. The focus of the discussion was on the management of patients suffering from aortic dissection and aortic aneurysms, two critical and complex cardiovascular conditions.

Dr Gopal from the CVTS department said, "We discussed treatment options for some of the complex aortic aneurysms we are currently handling. The exchange of expertise with Dr. Della Corte and the team provided valuable insights into advanced management strategies."

The session saw participation from cardiovascular experts from Gandhi, Osmania and ESI hospitals besides those from doctors from Nims.
