NIMS Protest: Gates Shut on Nursing Officers

“Once orders are issued fulfilling our demands, will withdraw the protest”: Union general secretary T. Krishna

HYDERABAD: Nursing officers at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) continued their silent protest on Tuesday, wearing black badges and holding a one-hour demonstration before joining duty.

Union general secretary T. Krishna said they had been invited to a meeting with health minister Damodar Rajnarsimha on Wednesday. “Once orders are issued fulfilling our demands, will withdraw the protest,” he said.

On Monday, in a formal intimation submitted to the Nims director, the union stated that despite the efforts of the union there had been no constructive response from the management, leading to dissatisfaction and unrest among nursing officers.

The key demands include the settlement of earned leave (EL) encashment as approved by the executive board, implementation of central pay scale benefits without anomalies, and enhancement of gratuity to Rs `lakh in line with the Telangana government order issued in November 2021.
