NIMS Blood Bank Record in 2025
According to a release issued on January 6, 2026, the Nims blood bank recorded a landmark performance in voluntary blood donation activities last year.

Hyderabad:The immuno-hematology and blood transfusion (IHBT) department of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) said it had conducted 727 single donor platelet (SDP) procedures in 2025, despite constraints in the supply of apheresis kits.
According to a release issued on January 6, 2026, the Nims blood bank recorded a landmark performance in voluntary blood donation activities last year. The department organised 50 voluntary blood donation camps — up sharply from the earlier annual average of about 12. On some occasions, as many as three camps were held in a single day, underscoring its organisational capacity.
Dr Sudheer Kumar Vujini, head of the NIMS Blood Bank, expressed gratitude to NIMS director Prof. Nagari Bheerappa and the hospital administration for their encouragement and support.
On World Blood Donor Day (June 14, 2025), NIMS IHBT organised a donation awareness rally and felicitated camp organisers and repeat donors, an initiative that helped boost public awareness and donor motivation.
As a result of these sustained efforts, the blood bank achieved its highest-ever collection of 25,105 units in 2025.
The department credited the achievement to the dedication of IHBT faculty, technical staff, nursing staff, residents and BSc Transfusion Medicine students.
