NIA Raids Social Activist’s House, Ashram in Jangaon

Accompanied by the personnel of QRT teams, a 30-member NIA team raided the house and ashram run Innaiah at Zaffergadh in Jangaon district

Hyderabad: The sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the premises of former People’s War (PW) leader and Bharat Bachao national general secretary Gade Innaiah, who was arrested recently for delivering speeches threatening India’s sovereignty and promoting the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Accompanied by the personnel of QRT teams, a 30-member NIA team raided the house and ashram run Innaiah at Zaffergadh in Jangaon district to collect more evidence in connection with the case registered against him under provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA)-1967.

For the second time, the NIA sleuths were carrying out raids at Zaffargadh. A few hours before the arrest of 64-year-old Innaiah, who is a social activist, they conducted similar raids last month. The action followed after heightened surveillance against him.

According to officials, Innaiah’s speeches were intended to further Maoist activities and allegedly incited the audience to participate in an armed revolution against the Indian government and security forces. The agency claimed it possesses video evidence of him delivering provocative speeches at a memorial meeting for deceased Maoist leader Katta Ramachandra Reddy, alias Vikalp. Officials said around 150 to 200 people were present at the meeting where the alleged remarks were made.

He had recently travelled to Chhattisgarh to meet the family members of slain Maoist leader Hidma and had appeared in several YouTube interviews. He publicly criticised ‘Operation Kakar’, describing it as a conspiracy by the Central government.
