NIA Notice to Scribe for Inciting Violence

On December 21, the NIA arrested social activist and former naxalite Gade Innaiah from the orphanage he runs in Jangaon district.

Hyderabad:The national investigation agency (NIA) has issued notice to journalist Raghu, directing him to appear for questioning over allegations of spreading Maoist propaganda.

On December 21, the NIA arrested social activist and former naxalite Gade Innaiah from the orphanage he runs in Jangaon district. He has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The charges stem from a speech Innaiah delivered at the funeral of Maoist central committee member Katta Ramachandra Reddy, alias Vikalp, in October. The NIA claims video evidence shows Innaiah making provocative remarks encouraging support for the banned CPI (Maoist) and inciting unlawful acts to continue the “Maoist revolution.”

Following his arrest, Innaiah was produced before a special NIA court in Hyderabad and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody in Chanchalguda Central Prison.
