Karimnagar: Contract employees of National Health Mission (NHM) staged a dharna near the collectorate here on Tuesday, pleading that the government regularise their services.

These employees also wanted the government to provide equal pay for equal work by following the Supreme Court’s guidelines.

Besides 180 days’ maternity leave, they also sought EHS and ESI facilities.

Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar extended his support to the agitation.

Kamalakar urged the government to regularize the service of NHM workers, who were discharging duties on contract basis for the last 20 years.

Informing that there were 17,000 such workers in the state, he opined that this would not entail a big financial burden on the government.
