NH-65 Toll Plazas Witness Post-Dasara Traffic Rush
Heavy traffic snarls at Panthangi and Korlapakad toll plazas on NH-65 as people return to Hyderabad after Dasara, with further congestion expected before schools reopen.
Traffic was disrupted at the Panthangi toll plaza on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad stretch of National Highway 65 in Choutuppal mandal of Yadadri-Bhongir district, with vehicles queuing for about one kilometre as people returned to Hyderabad after celebrating Dasara at their native places.
Traffic moved bumper to bumper along a four-kilometre stretch from Gundrampally to the Panthangi toll plaza. Vehicles piled up at the toll plaza due to the slow movement.
The Korlapakad toll plaza on NH-65 in Nalgonda district also witnessed a rush of vehicles from late Wednesday evening. Traffic moved slowly through Chityal and Choutuppal towns because of ongoing road works. Police intervened to regulate traffic in both towns.
The toll plazas are expected to witness a further increase in traffic from Thursday evening, as schools and colleges are scheduled to reopen on October 23 after the Dasara holidays.
Toll plaza managements are preparing to handle the rush and ensure smoother traffic flow by increasing the number of toll gates for vehicles travelling towards Hyderabad.
